Gamma Knife treatment step 7

This is the Gamma Knife. It’s similar to the MRI scanner and makes no noise. I spent two hours here going in and out of the machine while they carefully moved my head about to make sure the correctly targeted the tumour. My nurse was with me some of the time although she had to leave the room while the radiation was actually being delivered. Even so, I was in touch with her by intercom and CCTV during this time.

The doctors monitored me all the way along and the team kept me up-to-date with exactly what they were doing.

Gamma Knife treatment step 8

The radiographer checked the treatment plan and filled in lots of boxes – it’s complicated and full of measurements and columns full of numbers. I really don’t understand all the technical terminology but it doesn’t matter because everyone was so knowledgeable that I felt safe and very well cared for.
